The Matching Program 4 Beginners
This is a basic program to teach a child what objects, pictures and symbols are all about. Before we teach basic concepts we need to be sure the child demonstrates understanding of the materials and objects we present to him. Fun activities from matching identical objects to pointing at pictures are included with very simple steps and systems. This program attempts to elicit the child’s first words without pressure!
- The child will learn his very first system: start, do and finish.
- Adult and child will learn turn taking skills, both learn to"WAIT"
- Adult and child will learn what to expect from each other for a learning task
- Adult and child will be ready to learn many other skills with ease.
Materials you will need
The matching program has 10 steps and each one has an explanation at the end of the video for the materials you will need. Familiar objects you already have in your environment, your camera to take photos, a printer and marker to make silhouettes is all you will need.
Note: all materials you see in the videos are suggestions, you may use any objects and pictures that you have and believe will be appropriate for the task requested. Remember to use familiar objects that a child uses commonly and are safe rounded, soft and easy to manage.
