Implementing visual communication strategies in every single activity you present. Behavior modification strategies and when to use them.
Purpose of the Simple Steps 4 Therapists programs: To help children that are struggling supporting them with intense simplified instruction to continue their learning path to their maximum capacities. To make a real change and improve a child's learning path and eventually their life. To support Speech Language Pathologists towards an easier path to teaching special needs children.
What are the "Simple Steps 4 Therapists"?
Everything is moving at a rapid speed; children are also more alert and interacting in ways we might not have been prepared for. As educators, we must take a closer look at how our environments serve our students. True child-led learning requires us to intentionally adapt our spaces and material organization. By making materials independently accessible and allowing children to choose how they engage and position their bodies, we shift form an adult-directed model to one that genuinely respects and supports a child's natural development.
You are here to learn specific strategies to help improve skills for those children diagnosed with Autism, Down's Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, learning disabilities, language impairments and developmental delays. Children become independent and choose what they want to learn first, they learn to trade familiar or preferred activities for those they reject because they perceive as difficult or unnecessary. Therapists will now have time to write notes while children are taking care of the activities, strategies will make this possible, and you will teach these rapidly, because they work!
Direct therapy sessions can become expensive and financially draining, parents are subscribed to the SS4L programs, and they practice each activity themselves to support your therapy sessions. They will have access to printable materials, and you will be their guide for strategies and steps.
If you do not know where the child needs to start, you will find a complete "Simple steps assessment" integrating all of these programs into a plan of action!
For Speech Language Pathologists, a complete informational program of how and when to prepare for therapy sessions whether in direct therapy, in a clinic, travel therapy, home therapy, or school group therapy is included. If other specialists are interested, they are welcome to peek as well!
Children do not yet know what they need to learn to be successful in life—but we, as specialists, do. With that knowledge comes responsibility.
Whether you want fresh strategies, renewed inspiration, or a meaningful way to sharpen your skills, this is where it happens.
